Main Purpose and Description

Taking floodwater from non-permanent rivers through ditches or channels into a series of low flat ‘basins’ which are used for cropping.

Diverted water from the flooding river is channelled into the fields and completely covers the land for 1 to 3 days, where it completely fills (saturates) the soil.
